What is Boulder Roller?
Boulder Roller is a decentralized protocol that converts verifiable cycling effort into owned digital assets on the Solana blockchain.
The Problem
Every year, millions of cyclists upload billions of rides to fitness platforms. These rides contain valuable data—elevation profiles, power outputs, geographic routes, seasonal patterns. This data powers features, drives engagement, and creates network effects worth billions of dollars.
But cyclists own none of it.
Your ride history lives on servers you don't control. Your achievements exist at the pleasure of terms of service. If the platform pivots, gets acquired, or shuts down—your athletic history goes with it.
Meanwhile, the climbs you've conquered, the hills you've mastered, the routes you've pioneered—these have real value. They represent hours of effort, physical adaptation, and local knowledge. Yet you can't own them, trade them, or benefit from others who follow your path.
The Insight
Cycling effort is verifiable and repeatable.
When you climb a specific hill, that effort leaves a signature: GPS coordinates, elevation gain, duration, power output. This signature can be validated against the physical world. It can be compared across riders and across time.
This makes cycling effort fundamentally different from most human activities. It can be proven.
And if effort can be proven, it can be owned.
The Solution
Boulder Roller introduces patterns—verified records of effort on specific geographic or physiological features.
When you upload a ride, our pattern engine analyzes it against known geographic data and detects meaningful efforts: climbs, sustained power outputs, route signatures. Each detected pattern becomes an on-chain record tied to your wallet.
These patterns are:
Permanent — Stored on Solana, independent of any company
Verifiable — Cryptographically attested to your effort
Stakeable — Others can stake tokens on patterns they believe have value
Rewardable — Roll a pattern, earn DUNG tokens
Who Is This For?
Dedicated cyclists who want to own their athletic achievements rather than donate them to platforms.
Crypto-curious athletes interested in how blockchain can represent real-world effort.
Protocol enthusiasts exploring new models for proof-of-physical-work.
Builders who want to create applications on top of verifiable effort data.
What Boulder Roller Is Not
Not a replacement for Strava/Garmin — We integrate with your existing data sources
Not a token speculation vehicle — Value derives from actual physical effort
Not a data marketplace — Your raw ride data stays private; only patterns are public
